Madumere Orders Payment Of Two Months Salary Arrears To Imo Transport Workers

Imo state deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere has ordered the payment of two months' salary arrears to workers of the Imo Transport Company (ITC).

The deputy governor's order for the immediate settlement of the salary arrears followed his visit to the company where workers embarked on a two day protest claiming that they were being owed seven months arrears of salary.

The protesters who blocked the gate of the company with two coffins and a 60-seater bus called on the state government to look into the activities of the managers of the company, Global Ginika Services Limited led by Emeka Duru to save ITC from collapse.

When contacted, an aide to Emeak Duru, the Managing Director of Global Ginika services Limited, Mbakwe Collins said ITC workers had no reason to embark on protest as arrangement were concluded to settle the three months arrears owed them. He denied the workers' claim that they were being owed seven months' salary arrears.
