Beneficiaries of the Subsidy Re-Investment Programme (SURE-P) Community Services, Women and Youths Employment Scheme in Ekiti State have been paid over N300 million, the Chairman and Coordinator of the State Implementation Committee of the SURE-P in the State, Rt. Hon. Femi Akinyemi has disclosed.

Akinyemi, who made this known while speaking during a training programme organized for the newly inaugurated 16 Local Government Coordinators of the scheme, said the N300 million was the 10 months stipend paid to the 3,000 beneficiaries of the scheme.

The 16 Local Government Coordinators of the SURE-P Community Services, Women and Youths Employment Scheme received their letters of appointment last Tuesday, and took over the Local Government Desk Officers yesterday.

They are to coordinate activities of the Scheme at the grassroot level and report to the State Implementation Unit (SIU).

He urged political office holders in the country to emulate President Jonathan by focusing more on developments and welfare of the people.

'I am happy to inform you that as at today in Ekiti State, the 3,000 youths employed under the Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme have been paid a total sum of N300 million, being their monthly stipend for 10 months.

'Like I have said before, SURE-P is a programme specifically designed as part of the transformation agenda of the President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government for the eradication of poverty, up-liftment and development in Nigeria,' Akinyemi said.

At the training programme were the State Director of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Vice-Chairman of the State Implementation Committee, Mrs Shafaru Adeola, Senatorial Coordinators of the programme for Ekiti Central and North, Mrs. Tosin Aluko and Hon. Dare Olaosebikan, as well as other stakeholders.
