NIGERIA'S FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER AMBASSADOR AMINU WALI ASSUMES DUTY

The newly appointed Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali has assumed duty in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Honourable Minister assumed duty shortly after the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) swore in 10 other Ministers on Wednesday March 5th 2014 at the State House in Abuja.

He was received on arrival by the Minister of State l, Prof. Viola A. Onwuliri and Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, Minister of State ll, as well as the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Martin Uhomoihbi and other Senior Officers.

Amb. Wali is the 26th Foreign Affairs Minister since Nigeria's Independence in 1960.

Born on August 3, 1941 in Kano, he was, until his appointment Nigeria's Ambassador to China from 2008.

He had served as Nigeria' Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2004 to 2007 and Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly matters from 1999 to 2003.

Ambassador Wali is married with Children.
