A  clash between military operatives  and some youths in Kaura Local Government  Area of Kaduna  State on Thursday left six persons seriously injured.

Chairman of the  council, Mr. Kumai Badu, said the situation had been brought under control.

He said the injured, mainly youths from Manchok town, were currently receiving treatment at a health centre in Kagoro.

An eyewitness, who simply gave his names as Mr. Kabosho Duniya , said trouble started when the youth of the area protested against the arrest of six members of a vigilance group by soldiers for alleged armed robbery.

Duniya said a day to the  clash, soldiers in the area received a distressed call on Wednesday night from a motorist, who claimed to have been robbed in Manchok.

According to him, the prompt response to the call led to the arrest of six suspects, who were later taken to the paramount Chief of the community for amicable resolution of the matter.

However, the youth, not satisfied,  were said to have protested against the arrest, and in self defence, the soldiers fired gunshots, leaving six persons sustaining injuries.
