Scores Killed As Boko Haram Gunmen Attack Mafa Again

FRANCISCO, March 06, (THEWILL) - Not yet done with its killing spree in the North-eastern part of the country, Boko Haram gunmen again Wednesday evening returned to Mafa village, four days after they first attacked the Borno community during which 39 persons were killed.

Coming barely two hours after Governor Kashim Shettima visited the town on a condolence visit, the gunmen stormed the council headquarters at about 4:45pm and destroyed the remaining structures on ground after killing and maiming many residents.

On Monday, the gunmen had raided the community, killing 39 persons and burning the local government secretariat, schools, mosque, houses, shops, vehicles and telecommunication masts among others.

Impeccable sources in the community disclosed that the gunmen numbering over 30 first ambushed a security patrol vehicles which were on their way to Marte Local Government Area where they exchanged gunfire with the troops before invading Mafa and other surrounding villages.

Although the death toll could not be ascertained , sources said many people including the terrorists were killed in the attack as the security operatives successfully repelled the attack .
