Adebayo Jimoh, Aregbesola, Olunloyo, Others set for 1st National Public Administration Students’ Summit

The National Association of Public Administration Students, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is set to hold the 1st Nigeria Students Public Administration Summit. The summit is an avenue where students offering administration as a course of study in Nigeria tertiary institutions will gather to debate and dialogue on salient issues that bothers on the rudiments and scientific administration, themed; THE SCIENCE OF ADMINISTRATION. In an interview with Samuel Osho, the Local Organizing Committee Chairman with THE NIGERIAN VOICE speaks on their readiness and expectant of the first National Summit for students of administration and management in Nigeria. Here is the excerpt;

What are the plans and strategies in place: As at now, we have gone beyond our personal strength to put in place all necessary administrative planning at ensuring an outstanding summit. It is the first of its kind in the history of Obafemi Awolowo University and the department of Public Administration.

Challenges so far: As an organization, we were faced with many challenges in making this Summit a successful event amongst are, getting in touch with the prominent practicing administrators; whom prospective administrators can be under their tutelage. Sponsorship is also another headache. We are using this medium to call on benevolent Nigerian and corporate organization for sponsorship placement during the Summit.

Who are the expected guests for the event: Among our line ups. We have gotten the approval of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Alhaji Adebayo Jimoh, Group Managing Director of Odu'a Investment Company, Ighodalo Imadegbelo (SAN), Mr Lere Fashola, Chief Exectuive Officer, Legal Blitz, Lagos, Ms. Funke Olunloyo, Special Adviser to the Governor of Oyo state on Education, Prof. Victor Adetiloye, Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Mr Yinka Owoeye, Osun State Head of Service, Engr. Azogo Ifediora (MD CIM Automation), Chief Mrs. Olubola Omole, wife of the Vice Chancellor, OAU, Heads of Service; Oyo, Ondo and Osun States and others.

What has been the support from the level of the members: committee members have been working tirelessly to ensure success of the summit. We have cordial relationship with the management which has been reducing the cumbersome of the works. As great administrator, we have complied stricto-senso to the principles of administration by making sure that all works are being done effectively and efficiently.

The targeted audience: We are expecting over 3000 delegates from various campuses across Nigeria, over 20 schools studying public administration and its equivalents as a course of study, policy makers, administrators, managers and political figures at the grassroots.

The president of the department of Public Administration, comrade Oderemi Oyeleye buttressed the point by stressing that the summit will also feature keynote sessions, lectures, career talk, inter-school football competition and a dinner party to end the programme.

Oderemi said the summit would afford schools to mingle and interact with fellow National Summit would be the first of its kind being a 3-day event which is billed to hold at the Oduduwa hall of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. It is going to be a platform for dialogue and debate, where students, young scholars, professionals and expertise can discuss various science of administration that can promote and ensure effectively delivery of governmental business among bureaucrats. ”We are going to instill discipline, openness and efficiency to public works by sensitizing and enlightening ourselves on the ethical codes of administration towards a sustainable nation” he says.
