Ecstasy International Hits Nigeria With OSCAR Awards; Olamide, Bisi Fayemi, Several Others Favourited

Barely a day after the completion of Hollywood's biggest event, the Academy Awards, a global youth organization, Ecstasy International has announced plans to hit Nigeria with another version of the award program called the Outstanding Students' Choice Award of Recognition (OSCAR®).

The prospective electrifying event is planned for the students of the nation where winners will be awarded the plaque, officially the Ecstasy Award of Merit, that would be much better referred to by its nickname OSCAR®, a name that, interestingly, has nothing to do with the popular Hollywood's most celebrated award, Oscars.

In fact, organizers of the event said: "Unlike the universally known Oscars, which is also referred to as the Academy Awards, OSCAR® is an acronym which means Outstanding Students' Choice Awards of Recognition. The Outstanding Students' Choice Awards of Recognition will be awarded for acknowledging outstanding qualities, behaviours, attitude, inter-personal relationships, etc among students, groups, respected brands and notable figures. The event will be held in notable and recognized higher institutions in Nigeria".

This event is expected to take place in one of these four institutions (University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Lagos, and University of Ilorin) as the organizers said "The best university will host the event".

Moreover, many notable celebrities, professionals, and brands have been hinted to win big during the award ceremony. Those expected include: Olamide, Don Jazzy, Banky w, Davido, Bisi Fayemi, Femi Kuti, The Nation Newspaper, Sam Omatseye, Toolz, Helen Paul and several others.

Many international stars and models like Ruënna “Sugar” Mercelina, a rising motion picture sensation who is captivating audiences across the Dutch Caribbean could be associated with Ecstasy International after her first international appearances that got her named a teen beauty ambassador for the Miss Ecstasy International in Anguilla (Overseas territory of the United Kingdom) where she scored the Miss Personality award.

Graceful, sweet, fierce and elegant are a few words used to describe Mercelina's diverse nature, both on screen and off. In Guatemala, the Minister of Culture once called her the Ebony Goddess. She was the title-holder of Miss Teenager Congeniality award of the largest teenage pageant in the world, Miss Teenager Universe.

Ecstasy International also coordinate a charity program which is basically to encourage excellence in education, promote gender equality, assist the less-privileged with the Ecstasy Impact Project. The are currently helping refugees in different countries of the world.

Investigation reveals the Ecstasy International is coming to Nigeria the first time since 2010 when the organization sponsored a student group at the Obafemi Awolowo University to organize a public lecture series under a former Education Minister, Dr. Sam Olaiya Oni. The lecture which was tagged: "Nigeria Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Lessons Learnt, Challenges and Opportunity" had the Wife of Ondo State Governor, Olukemi Mimiko as the Special Guest of Honour while the event had panelist from World Bank (Nigeria), Society for Family Health, Nigerian Television Authority and the Civil Liberty Organization.

This award program will be done in conjunction with any student organization that believes in the event, a statement by the event's official twitter account (@OSCARnigeria) confirms.

Ecstasy International is also planning another national event which is expected to take place in May, if the second-hand information at our disposal is anything to go by.
