PDP Warns Against Continued Threat To Members' Lives

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter has expressed

anger over the continued threat to the lives of its members across the

State.
This is coming on the heels of the assassination of one of its members,

Hon Sotonye Bobmanuel, a serving councilor in Akuku-Toru Local Government

Area of the State about 9.45pm Sunday night.
Happening a few days after the kidnap of three stalwarts of the party who

are still being held captive, the PDP in a statement by Jerry Needam,

Special Adviser on Media to the State Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah said this

is nothing short of a calculated plot by political opponents to provoke

the party and ignite crisis in the State.
It's now crystal clear, the Statement remarks why these agents of

disharmony and destruction were hell-bent on seeing the former

Commissioner of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu transferred out of the State.

According to PDP, and from empirical evidence, there is no denying the

fact that Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi's agents, the All Progressives

Congress, APC, and the Save Rivers Movement are responsible for the

unfortunate acts of lawlessness in the State.
The PDP regrets that even in the face of all this, Governor Amaechi

remains unperturbed and is rather busy celebrating.

“We condemn these inhuman and lawless acts in their entirety and call for

an immediate stop of the senseless insurgency and also appeal to the

security agencies to wake up to these challenges posed by these

undesirable elements and enemies of the State.
This is the only way to guarantee peace and harmonious co-existence in the

State since no one person or group has a monopoly of violence”, the PDP

warned.
