Gov. Obi Boosts Security In Markets With 9 Patrol Vehicles

Governor Peter Obi has presented nine brand new security vehicles to markets in Onitsha and environs. Governor Obi who presented the vehicles at Odakpu Onitsha said the gesture was a fulfillment of his earlier promise.


The beneficiaries include, Bridge Head Market, Ogboefere Market, Building Materials Market Ogidi, Onitsha Main Market, Marine Modern Market, Ogbaru Main Market, Ose Okwodu Market, Electronics Market Onitsha and Amalgamated Market Traders Association.


Governor Obi said the vehicles was part of the efforts to ensure security of lives and property to bring back the glory of the State as a pace-setter in the country. He stressed the determination of his administration to give traders stronger presence and voice in the scheme of things and warned against any form of encroachment on market land. The Governor enjoined leaders at all levels to see their position as grace of God and remain responsive to the needs and aspiration of the people.


The President of the Amalgamated Market Traders Association of Anambra State, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo thanked the Governor for fulfilling his promises to the traders, assuring Govenror for fulfilling his promises to the traders, assuring that the vehicles would be put to good use. Mr Ezenwankwo appealed to the Governor not to resign from politics at the end of his tenure so as to serve the country in high capacity and do for Nigeria what he has done for Anambra State.


Earlier in an address, the Secretary of AMATAS, Chief Chuma Eruchalu said the Governor had lived up to his promise of transforming Anambra State and thanked him for the recognition and support given to the traders from the inception of his administration.


Also speaking, the President of Ogboefere Market, Mr. Livinus Obiegonu said the Governor had raised the bar of governance and set a standard other leaders should emulate.
