Ekiti PDP Youths Declare Support For Jonathan, Adeyeye

By Lere Olayinka

The PDP National Youth Vanguard, Ekiti State chapter has declared their support for President Goodluck Jonathan's second term bid and Prince Dayo Adeyeye's governorship ambition.

The Youth Vanguard made this known in a letter dated February 3,

2014, written to President Jonathan, was titled; “Declaration of support for your second term ambition and adoption of Prince Dayo Adeyeye as Ekiti PDP governorship candidate.”

The letter, which was signed by the State Co-ordinator, Hon. Lawal Adegoke and Secretary; Hon Yaya Lateef, was endorsed by 18 out of the 21 State Executives members, all the 16 Local Government Co-ordinators and 15 out of the 16 Local Government Women Leaders.

The three-page letter read; “In our meeting of Sunday, February 2, 2014, members of the PDP Youths Vanguard in Ekiti State unanimously resolved to support the second term ambition of Mr President; His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Azikwe Ebele Jonathan, support the governorship ambition of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye and urge that he should be picked as the PDP consensus candidate for Ekiti State; and work assiduously to ensure victory for PDP in the June 21 Governorship election and the February 2015 Presidential election.

“Our resolve to support the second term ambition of Your Excellency was prompted by the landmark transformational strides, most importantly the establishments of a Federal University and 100,000 Metric Tonnes Silo in Ekiti State, rehabilitation of federal roads in the State, and the proposed Ado-Ekiti Airport, among others.”

On why the choice of Adeyeye as their preferred governorship candidate, the Youth Vanguard said; “Our declaration of total and unflinching support for the candidacy of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye is based on our conviction that he is the most credible, sellable, acceptable and determined among the aspirants.

“Among all the aspirants, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye was the only one, who toured the entire 16 Local Councils in Ekiti State to meet PDP members and supporters. He also used the tour to promote the party by ensuring its wide media coverage. Other aspirants only visited party Excos in the Local Councils.

“Prince Dayo Adeyeye is a unifying factor in the party. He was instrumental to the resolution of the crisis arising from the 2012 State Congress.

“It is a fact that Adeyeye's campaign organisation, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM) is the most vibrant in the State today, with the organisation taking up the task of defending, promoting and mobilising support for the PDP in the media. Today in Ekiti, PAAM is seen as the only opposition voice. PAAM is deeply rooted in all the 16 Local Councils and 177 Wards in the State, with over 50 PDP leaders as members of its Elders Council.

“Reference should also be made to Prince Dayo Adeyeye's performance as the Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). In all towns Ekiti State, we can point to storey building classrooms built when he (Adeyeye) was SUBEB chairman.

“It is therefore our candid opinion that Prince Dayo Adeyeye be picked as the PDP governorship candidate, and we in the PDP Youths Vanguard can guarantee the party's victory in the June 21 gubernatorial and February 2015 Presidential elections respectively.

“Your Excellency Sir, we thank you for your anticipated consideration.
