Southern Leaders' Summit Meeting -- Delegates Gather in TINAPA to Deliberate on Nigeria

Streams of delegates arrived at the peaceful and beautiful Tinapa Resort ahead of the Monday 24 February 2014 Southern Leaders' Summit Meeting in Calabar, Cross River State. Delegates drawn from the south-west, south-east and south-south were seen clustering and exchanging pleasantries at the hotel lobby, restaurants and grounds.

Gov. Olusegun Mimiko was at hand to to greet members of the southwest delegations. Also seen at the venue was Chief Olu Falae, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who would reportedly chair the summit, and Olumide Braithwaite, son o nationalist politician Tunji Braithwaite.

The Anambra delegation includes some heavy weights, Gov. Peter Obi, Deputy Governor Emeka Sibeudu, Gov.Elect Willie Obiano, Senator Onyeabo Obi, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, Bishop Owen Nwokolo, Gen. Isaac Chukwukadibia Obiakor, Hon. Chris Azubogu, Dr. Dozie Ikedife and Dr. Tim Menakaya, amongst others.

Some observers note that the southern leaders' summit, a first of its kind, was long overdue and might prove a defining moment in Nigerian politics. The summit would allow the attendees to undertake introspective and retrospective evaluation of matters germane to the common interest of the southern geopolitical zone ahead of the national conference.

The Southern Leaders' Summit Meeting was convened by Gov. Liyel Imoke, Gov. Peter Obi and Gov. Olusegun Mimiko on behalf of their southern colleagues.
