2015: Unity Will Guarantee PDP Victory-Akpabio

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum, Chief

Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians of total victory for the party in

2015 general elections if the PDP faithful in Imo State are united.

Akpabio, who stated this Saturday at the PDP sensitization rally held at

Dan Anyiam Stadium, Imo State  to receive defectors from APGA to PDP,

hinted that the party did not lose election in 2007 elections but lost

calculation, promising of total victory for the party in 2015.

The Chairman, PDP Governors' Forum who is also Akwa Ibom Governor  opined

that to ensure  total victory  for the PDP, the party faithful must live

in unity and contribute to the development of Imo State by being good

supporters of noble cause provided by the party to change the fortune of

the state.
He stated that the party had already realized its mistake of the past and

determined to ensure PDP is returned to Imo state in the future.

Chief Achike Udenwa, a one-time Governor of Imo State said

his decision to return to PDP  was necessitated  by the wishes of his

supporters, and promised to deliver Imo State to PDP at all levels in the

2015 general elections.
The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu

Mu'azu said the return of founding members of PDP in the state was a

clear testimony of a new dawn in the political sphere of the party.

Mu'azu who described PDP as the winning party in the country urged

party members to work together for the success of the party in 2015.

Those who returned to PDP are Chief Achike Udenwa, former Governor of the

state; Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, former Senator in the state;  Senator

Christy Anyanwu representing Imo and Chief Mike Ahamba, among others.

In the same vein, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has described the

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the hub which democracy in Nigeria

revolves.
Dr. Jonathan who stated this at the Peoples Democratic Sensitization Rally

in Imo State noted, “There would be no democracy in Nigeria without the

PDP. The Peoples Democratic Party is the only political party in Nigeria

that follows democratic principles and the rule of law. It is the only

party that can unite this country”.
Dr. Jonathan further described PDP as the only political party in Nigeria

with consistent policies and principles, saying “Since we started PDP in

1999; the name has not changed, the logo has not changed and or slogan has

not changed.
“We are here because some of us who for one reason or the other stepped

aside have stepped back to the party. Today, we are witnessing the unity

of Peoples Democratic Party and the party will now be strong as it was in

1999. Imo State has been a PDP State and will continue to be PDP”, he

maintained.
The event was attended by who is who in the PDP including the Senate

President, Senator David Mark; Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike

Ekweremadu, Chief Tony Anenih, Chairman, BoT of PDP and some PDP

Governors.
