Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has issued a carefully worded statement that sidestepped answering the question whether she tendered a letter of resignation earlier in the week to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Two sources familiar with the development had told THEWILL that the President rejected her resignation and urged her to carry on as Minister.

'The Finance Minister is still in place and assures Nigerians that all will be done to ensure that macro-economic stability is maintained through tight fiscal and monetary policies,' the statement said.
