EKITI 2014: SOUTH AGENDA 2014 REFERENCE TO NORTH AGENDA 2006

Ekiti state comprises three zones namely Ekiti North, Ekiti Central and Ekiti South,with Ekiti North having five local government areas which include Ido-Osi, Oye, Ikole, Moba and Ilejemeje,

Ekiti Central having five local government areas including Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ijero, Ekiti West and Efon and Ekiti South has the highest numbers of six Local government areas such as Ikere, Ise/Orun, Emure, Gbonyin, Ekiti East and Ekiti South west.

The two zones, which have five local government areas each, have been producing two governors each while the zone with the highest local government areas has never produced any governor since the creation of the state.

In 2006,PDP National Working Committee(NWC) allowed all the three zones to contest the governorship poll after paying the nomination and interest forms fees of N5.5M each, that is, N5M each on the nomination form and N500,000 each on the interest form, the party National Working Committee(NWC) has decided to zone the ticket to Ekiti North Senatorial District and the aspirants from other zones were screened out of the race to create way for the Northern aspirants.

In 2014,PDP National working Committee issues the sale of Nomination form and interest form of N11M and allow all the three zones gubernatorial aspirants to participate in obtaining nomination form of N10M and interest form of N1M without zoning it. What happened in 2006 is likely to repeat itself in 2014,Ekiti South Senatorial district is likely to be favoured and other zones aspirants are taking risk to obtain nomination forms at 11M.
