Nkanu West PDP endorse Nwobodo, Chime’s Chief of Staff for Senate

The  leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State has passed a vote of confidence on Chief Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo and also unanimously endorsed her as its sole candidate for the Enugu East Senatorial seat in the 2015 general election.


The motion for the adoption of Mrs. Nwobodo for the Enugu East Senatorial District seat come 2015 general election was moved by Hon Iloabuchi Aniagu, Member Representing the local government in the State House of Assembly and seconded by Mrs. Ndidi Chukwu, the State Commissioner for Gender Affairs.


Speaking shortly before moving the motion during the meeting of the party stakeholders, at Agbani, Mr. Aniagu described Mrs. Nwobodo as a selfless leader who used her position to contribute immeasurably to the development of Nkanu land in particular and Enugu State in general.


The Honourable Member noted that Mrs. Nwobodo is a very marketable commodity, a caring mother and woman of substance, adding that if given the mandate come 2015 general election, she would do more to the people of the zone far better than those who were there in the senate before her.


Also speaking while seconding the motion, the Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Chukwu thanked Mrs. Nwobodo for her special concern for the socio-political wellbeing of the people of Enugu East Senatorial zone and Nkanu land in particular.  She described Mrs. Nwobodo as an apostle of justice, equity and fair play with an unquenchable thirst and hunger to serve, to help people and to excel no matter how insurmountable a task may seem.


According to her, Mrs. Nwobodo has contributed in no small way in the positive transformation and up liftment of Nkanu West Local Government Area and its people and will do more for the people if elected Senator to represent Enugu East Senatorial zone come 2015.


Also in their separate speeches, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development and Community Relations, Mr. Dons Ude and the Chairman ALGON Enugu State Chapter, Prince Cornelus Nnaji added their voice in support of the motion and described Mrs. Nwobodo as a very efficient, trust worthy, honest achiever who had excelled in her field of endeavour.


Prince Nnaji who spoke on behalf of the Chairmen of the six local government areas of the zone who were present at the meeting recounted the achievements of Mrs. Nwobodo, especially in human capital development, women empowerment and management of man and materials.


The State ALGON Chairman who is also the Chairman of Enugu East local government appealed to the stakeholders to go home and mobilize their people and ensure their total support for Mrs. Nwobodo and the party during the 2015 general election.


In an opening remarks before the stakeholders meeting, the PDP Chairman for Nkanu West local government council Chairman Mr. Vincent Ani Nnaji spoke in favour of the candidature of Mrs. Nwobodo and told the people that the party released a total of 12,500 membership cards for the registration of new members in the council area.  Mr. Nnaji explained modalities for the party meetings and registration of new members and appealed to them to abide by them to avoid anti party activities.


He explained that party members must attend meetings in their wards and also channel all their activities to the wards.


In his welcome address, the Chairman of Nkanu West local government council, Mr. Afam Okereke thanked stakeholders for endorsing Mrs. Nwobodo as the party's Senatorial Candidate for the Enugu East Senatorial zone come 2015 general election.


He noted that Mrs. Nwobodo is most qualified for the Senatorial seat going by her good works pedigree and antecedents and therefore appealed to her to answer the call by her people and accept the endorsement.


Mr. Okereke described the endorsement as a wise decision and pledged the total support of all the chairmen of the six local government councils that make-up the zone to this noble course.  He described PDP as one family in Nkanu West local government area and promised to continue to carry the stakeholders along in the scheme of things.


In her brief remarks, the Nkanu West local government council PDP candidate for Enugu East Senatorial District, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo thanked the stakeholders for the honour done her and said 'I am highly honoured and humbled by your kind words and reactions, we will continue to do our best to render services to our people.'


Mrs. Nwobodo specifically thanked the six council chairmen from the zone for their special interest in the Senatorial seat project and said that she will handover the entire programme to God who will take absolute control and direct the affairs as they unfold.


PDP stakeholders from all the political wards in Nkanu West local government council as ell as top government officials and appointees attended the meeting.
