Dana Air to acquire IOSA certification

Dana Airlines Limited said the airline would acquire the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) before the end of 2014.

The company said this was coming on the heels of the various efforts targeted at boosting its operations and improving its services to its customers.

The company's Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager, Mr. Yvan Drewinsky, said this in Lagos on Tuesday, during the re-commencement of its flight operations from Lagos to Port Harcourt and Port Harcourt to Abuja.

He said, 'The African Union decided to sponsor 10 airlines towards achieving the certification, and Dana Air has been chosen as one of the companies to be IOSA certified. And so, by the end of the year, we hope to have the IOSA certification through the help of IATA.

'Remember that Dana Air is the only domestic airline to have successfully undergone the operational audit and this reinforces the strict adherence to internationally acceptable flight safety standards.'

Speaking on the re-commencement of its activities, Drewinsky said the company planned to acquire more Boeing aircraft.

He stressed that there were ongoing discussions with a number of companies to achieve this as quickly as possible.

He explained that the inauguration of flight operations to Port Harcourt came on the heels of the recent addition of a Boeing 737-500 series aircraft to its fleet as well as the successful audit of its entire operations conducted by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority Flight Safety Group in partnership with their foreign partners.

He said, 'We have been doing well in the past few weeks following the recommencement of our flight operations. Our customers have been showing increasing interest and there has been a huge demand by our customers, which has informed the need to bring in these routes.

'As time goes on, we will increase our network to where the customers want us to go to, to ensure that their travel needs are duly satisfied. We plan to focus on building up and training our workers as well as the people working with us.

'We feel greatly humbled by the unprecedented support we have received from our guests since we re-commenced flight operations and our sense of appreciation is better understood when you consider that within this short period of operating the Lagos - Abuja - Lagos route, customers have shown preference for our product offering as we offer both business and leisure travellers an opportunity to experience an unrivalled hospitality and world-class service delivery.'
