Okorocha's Attitude Robbing Imo Of Federal Projects; Says Commissioner

The Commissioner representing Imo state in the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Uche Diogu says the poor working relationship between him and Gov. Rochas Okorocha has continued to deny the state some federal projects, employments and appointments which could have accrued to it through the Commission.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri, Diogu lamented that the situation has led to the state not taking advantage of the opportunities as they emerge.

The Commissioner hinted that he had written Okorocha several times requesting to brief him on the areas they need to work together for the benefit of the state, but regretted that the governor has never bothered to get back to him till date.

“It is very unfortunate that a federal commissioner representing Imo state in the Federal Character Commission has written to his governor for audience and till today, I have not been allowed to see my governor. I'm representing Imo state and it is expected I have good working relation with my governor. All my efforts to see him have not yielded any positive result. Other Commissioners are closely working with their governors to their benefit of their states. Why would that of Imo state be different? Our people are suffering for it because our governor is not closing in to catch the opportunities.

 “I believe that both of us should work together to ensure that Imo state is not shortchanged. I'm not losing anything as an individual but the state is losing much because of the poor working relationship,” he lamented.

Diogu disclosed that he has not seen Okorocha close to two years since he was appointed as the Commissioner representing Imo state in the Commission, stressing that the development is not good for the state as partisan politics should be kept aside for the benefit of the people.

He explained that the Commission ensures that local governments, states and zones in the federation gets equal share of the nation's resources, appointments and employments into the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the federal government.
