Nigeria Fires Satellite Chief, Orders Investigation
SAN FRANCISCO, February 17, (THEWILL) - The government of Nigeria has fired the Managing Director of the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat), Mr.
Timasaniyu Ahmed Rufai, while also ordering a total investigation into the finances of the agency.
THEWILL gathered that Rufai who was removed over allegations of misappropriation of funds belonging to the agency, has been sent on indefinite leave by the board of NigComSat following a directive from the Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs.
Omobola Johnson, whose Ministry supervises NigComSat.
Pending the announcement of a new MD for NigComSat, the Executive Director in charge of Marketing, Ms.
Abimbola Alale, has been named Acting Managing Director.
