Porter Double Sees Blades Into Quarters

Sheffield United substitute Chris Porter struck twice in the closing stages as the Blades beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Victory at their Bramall Lane ground took the third tier club into the last eight, where they will now face Sheffield Wednesday if their local rivals get past Charlton in a re-arranged fixture.

It also meant Blades boss Nigel Clough, who started his playing career with Forest, had got one over current Nottingham manager Billy Davies.

Clough, the son of legendary Forest manager Brian, clashed with Davies in his role as manager of Forest's Midlands rivals Derby County in a touchline row during a game at Derby's Pride Park in 2010.

Davies accused Clough of kneeing him in the back during a melee which involved players and coaching staff.

Clough later denied the allegation, but Davies made an official complaint to the League Managers' Association.

Three subsequent matches saw Forest beat Clough's Derby on every occasion.

The last meeting proved pivotal, with Clough sacked by Derby just two days after a 1-0 defeat by Forest in September.

But it was Clough who was celebrating on Sunday as the Blades, the lowest ranked team left in this season's FA Cup, won through to the last eight having already knocked out two Premier League clubs in Aston Vill and Fulham.

They fell behind against Forest when Jamie Paterson's 28th minute header put the visitors in front.

But a mistake by Forest goalkeeper Dorus de Vries allowed Conor Coady to tap a 66th minute equaliser into an empty net.

The course of the match was changed dramatically when Porter came on just three minutes from fulltime.

He put them in front with a 90th minute penalty following Greg Halford's hand-ball and then sealed victory in stoppage-time with a finish from close range.
