The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,(RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed concern about the poor remuneration earned by  lecturers in Nigeria and some other countries.

This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos by Mr Toyin Adebule, the Deputy Registrar, Information, University of Lagos (UNILAG), after a visit by the management of the University to the cleric.

In the statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Adeboye, a former lecturer of Mathematics at UNILAG, said that academics were great assets to national development and moulders of human lives.

According to him, considering the great services they (lecturers) offer to countries, it is only natural that enough attention is paid to them.

Adeboye  said that lecturers the world over, were the best in the society and this should reflect in their monthly take-home package.

The delegation from the university was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), Prof. Babajide Alo, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rahamon Bello.

Adeboye recently endowed a Professorial Chair in the Department of Mathematics, worth N50 million, to encourage teaching and research in the subject.

Bello thanked the cleric for choosing UNILAG for the endowment and promised that its authorities would sustain the relationship.(NAN)
