364 teachers promoted in Hadejia, Jigawa state

The Hadejia Local Education Authority in Jigawa said on Tuesday that it had promoted 364 teachers in the last one year.

Alhaji Lawan Abubakar, the Education Secretary, told newsmen in Hadejia that the teachers were drawn from primary and secondary schools in the area.

“We have no outstanding promotions, our teachers are duly promoted in accordance with laid down rules,” Abubakar said.

He said the authority, through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) had trained teachers to expose them to modern teaching techniques and encourage academic excellence.

According to him, the local education authority had also disbursed N5.4 million in loans to 206 teaching and non-teaching staff members.

The secretary said the facility was provided to enable the members of staff to buy cars, motorcycles and bicycles respectively.

Abubakar said the gesture was to improve welfare and motivate the teachers to put in their best in achieving the goal of quality education for all children.

“The state government has also executed various school development projects, established additional schools and provided instructional materials as well as classroom furniture to all the schools in the area,” he said.
