Ekiti 2014: No Half-Baked, Controversial HND Certificate Holder Will Be PDP Candidate

By Ekiti PDP

The Ekiti Progressive Youths (EPY) has slammed the State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Tope Aluko for canvassing for the relegation of academic qualifications in choosing the party's governorship candidate, saying; "Ekiti have passed the ignoble era where a half-baked controversial Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate fwas its governor."

Reacting to a statement credited to Mr Aluko that aspirants parading chains of degrees were not likely to perform as governor, the EPY said in a release issued by its President, Comrade Ebenezer Olaleye that it was shameful that Aluko, a supposed PhD holder could make such statement.

The EPY, which said it was disappointed in Aluko, added that; "Ekiti is a state where academic credentials are very important and Aluko should cover his face in shame for canvassing support for a holder of controversial Higher National Diploma (HND) as governor."

The statement read: "We read the shameful statement credited to the State Secretary of the PDP, TKO Aluko, trying to canvass support for one of the governorship aspirant, whose only academic credentials is a controversial HND.

"We wish to remind TKO Aluko and his co-travellers that Ekiti will no longer accept a governor who will go about attacking and insulting traditional rulers; putting them in car booths, insulting senior citizens of the State and throwing the State into chaos by unleashing violence on perceived political opponents.

"Most importantly, Aluko should know that Ekiti people have realised the danger in having the character he (Aluko) he is supporting back in government, and that was the reason they rejected him during the 2011 senatorial election.

"It was also on the basis of this rejection that the Labour Party under which the aspirant being promoted by Aluko contested the Senate could not win the Moba House of Assembly by-election in 2010 and could also not win even the House of Assembly seat of the aspirants constituency.

"Therefore, Aluko and his ilks should stop their dance of shame and declare where he is because we are not even sure whether he is PDP or the All Progressives Congress."
