Adeyeye Begs Fayemi To Pay Ekiti Pensioners' Gratuity, LG Health Workers CONHESS

By Prince Dayo Adeyeye Movement

Former Spokesperson of Afenifere and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has appealed to the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi to pay gratuities of pensioners who retired in the State since last year and Local Government (LG) Health workers' Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).

Adeyeye, who called on all well-meaning indigenes of the State to join him in begging the governor on behalf of the pensioners and LG workers, added that; “Since Fayemi has turned himself to a god, who must be appeased before Ekiti people can get what is due to them from government, we are begging him to please hearken to the voice of the suffering pensioners and health workers.”

Speaking through the Director General of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Hon Bisi Kolawole, the PDP governorship aspirant said it was painful that despite repeated plea from the pensioners, the government has refused to pay them their gratuities.

He said; "when PDP was in government in the state, pensioners received their gratuity within 60 days of retirement while pension was paid on the 22nd of the month. But today, those who retired since last year are yet to receive their gratuities while harmonisation arrears have not been paid since 2011.

”From the local councils fund, a sum of N100 million is deducted monthly for the payment of gratuity while N140 million is deducted for the payment of pension. In the last 12 months, no penny has been paid as gratuity to local government retirees and we wonder where they are keeping the billions of naira deducted from the local councils' monthly allocations.”

While also calling for the resumption of payment of the Health workers CONHESS, Adeyeye said; “Before Fayemi became governor, local government health workers were already being paid the CONHESS but the payment was stopped when he (Fayemi) assumed office.

“The question then is, how was the PDP government able to pay the health workers CONHESS and why did Fayemi refused to pay? What happened to the fund being used to pay the CONHESS before Fayemi became governor?”
