As part of effort to give back to an institution that nurtured them for their legal profession, the 1988 alumni of the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, have initiated the building of an Information and Communication Technology centre for the institution.

The building and equipping of the centre is expected to cost about N150 million at completion.

Among the over 300 Class of 1988 graduates were three serving governors, Senator Liyel Imoke, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) of Lagos State and Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Ayim Pius Ayim, former Deputy Speaker, Chibudom Nwuche, Senator Joy Emodi.

At a fund raising dinner as part of the activities to mark the Silver Jubilee of the Class of '88, held in Tinapa Business Resort, Calabar, Cross River State, at the weekend, host governor Imoke, also a member of the set, said the class was committed to a common course of actualizing the development of an ICT centre at the school, pointing out that as the most outstanding set, they would continue to contribute their quota at ensuring that their Alma matter competed favorably with its global counterparts.

He described the ceremony as unique, as it coincided with their Silver Jubilee celebration which he noted was no mean feat to sustain, 25 years of post-law school.

According to the Governor, 'We the Class of 1988 are committed to a common course of actualizing the development of an ICT centre at the Lagos Law School. We will continue to contribute our quota in ensuring that our Alma matter competes favorably with its contemporaries globally, and so I urge members not to relent in contributing to the projects.'

While conducting his visitors round some of the ongoing as well as completed projects in the state capital, Imoke noted 'For us in Cross River, we are particularly honoured to welcome you to Calabar.  We pride ourselves as being the home of entertainment, heritage and culture as well as being a preferred destination for conferences.

Senator Ayim Pius Ayim, while eulogizing the outstanding performance of members of the set in their chosen endeavor, averred that they were committed to leaving a legacy in the school that was uncommon since its inception.

The highpoint of the celebration was a novelty football match between the selected sides of the set of 1988 graduates.
