Senators' Forum of Nigeria comprising serving and non-serving senators has pledged support to the new People's Democratic Party (PDP) chairman and former governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Adamu Muazu.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna, the forum described Mu'azu as a man of integrity and proven tracks of achievements as governor of Bauchi State.

The forum's secretary-general, Senator Abubakar Girie, who signed the statement, said: 'I, on behalf of the Senators' Forum, hereby congratulate you on your successful election as the national chairman of our great party, PDP. We pledge our full support, loyalty and cooperation to your leadership and wish you God's guidance and protection as you strive to reposition the party for greater achievements.'

He expressed optimism that if the new PDP chairman puts to bare his wealth of experience, the party would not only be strengthened, but would be saved from the series of challenges confronting it.

'We are optimistic that with the new leadership of the party under Alhaji Mua'zu, he will bring into practice his wealth of experience and further transform the party, reposition it and sustain its present enviable position in the polity of the country.

'We also implore him to leave up to his words of doing everything possible to see to it that aggrieved party members are reconciled back into the party while internal democracy and discipline is not compromised,' he said.

The forum said that PDP as a ruling party must remain focused in spite of distractions from within and outside the party, and ensure that all necessary measures are put in place that will guarantee the party an overwhelming victory come 2015 general elections.
