Court Stops IYC Election

A High Court sitting in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State Thursday stopped the Ijaw National Congress (INC) from conducting its Youth Council election.

Ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by Mr. Udengs Eradiri, the Presiding Judge, Justice Young Ogola restrained INC Vice President/Acting President, “their agents, servants, privies, cronies from conducting any election for the office of the President of the Ijaw Youth Council.”

Justice Ogola ordered that no election be conducted on the 25th January, 2014, or any other date pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The court adjourned the matter to February 18, 2014.

The 1st defendant , Mr. Udengs Eradiri, the President-elect of the council had dragged several parties including Sir Theodore Ezonfade, Amangala Miteabal Joshua, Don Kemezuo Elvis, and Femowei Tariela Fredrick to court.

Also listed as defendants were Olorogun Kennedy, Zuokemefa Enebraye Peter, Eze Waribigha, (aka Skido), Alfred Erepade Akamu, Igoli Timi, Mr. Lokpobiri Jonathan and Oweikeye Ndoro.

INC president-elect had prayed the court to interprete IYC constitution, especially the alleged involvement of his council in the affairs of the youth council.
