Gov. T.A Orji Says Abia Airport Project On Course

Abia governor, chief Theodore Orji says his government is serious and committed to achieving the proposed Abia airport project.

The governor stated this at the government house, Umuahia when he received the Euro Asia Global services Ltd, technical partners to CGCOC China construction group interested in actualizing the airport project.

Chief Orji said the airport project is a noble project, explaining that even if he did not complete it, he would have initiated the process.

He said that the airport project was borne out of requests by Abia businessmen as it would boost the economy of the state and called on the investors to start discussions with the airport committee with a view to signing a memorandum of understanding with the state government.

Governor Orji described Abians as very resourceful people who have all it takes to have an airport ,maintaining that the Sam Mbakwe airport,Owerri is mainly patronized by Abians.

According to the governor, land for the project has been secured in a centrally located area of the state between Ikwuano and Olokoro in Umuahia south and assured the investors of government's willingness to provide them with the enabling environment to work.

He stated that he has confidence in the investors and advised them to show commitment towards actualizing the project in record time.

The governor also told them to open up discussions with the ministry of petroleum on the establishment of a modular refinery in the state.

Earlier, the Chief Executive officer of Euro Asia Global services Ltd.Folorunso Okenla said they were interested in partnering with the state in the realization of the Abia airport and thanked him for the opportunity to be part of vision of leaving legacies in the state.

He pointed out that his company which is a private indigenous company has the expertise to deliver adding that they would also like to develop a modular refinery in the state.
