Mr Kayode Theophilus, Jigawa Commissioner of Police said the command will deploy 7,000 police men for the January 18, 2014 local government election in the state.

Theophilus made this known during a stakeholders' meeting with leaders of political parties and security agencies on Thursday in Dutse.

He said that 6,000 of his officers and men would be participating while additional 1,000 police men would be deployed by the Inspector General of Police to assist his men.

The police commissioner stated that the command had noted some flash points where police would be focusing to prevent any breach of peace.

He said that the police was a non-partisan organisation and would ensure there was peace during and after the election.

Theophilus urged politicians to abide by the electoral laws in the state and report any police man involved in electoral malpractice.

The commissioner announced that there would be restriction on movement from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm on the day of election.
