The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has impounded 50 cartons of fake Exadon (extra-strength) tablets during one of its operations in Kano.

The Deputy Director of Kano Special Zone of the agency, Adedeji Akinwumi said the consignments were seized during a joint operation of the agency and the police.

He said the suspect, who claimed to be a foreign national, was arrested while trying to distribute the fake drugs at a Kano market.

'Investigation into the matter continues, and the suspect will be arraigned according to the laws of the land. Definitely we are charging him to court as soon as we are through with our investigations,' he said.

The anti-drug official said the reason for the thorough investigation is to crack the chain of command for the distribution of fake drugs in the state.

'We have hidden the identity of the suspect for the meantime in order to get into the root of the matter,' he said.

Mr. Akinwumi assured the people that the agency would sustain the fight against counterfeit drugs and unwholesome products in Kano State. He appealed to Nigerians to join the agency in the fight to rid the society of substandard products in order to safeguard the health of the nation
