Suleiman Abdurahman Kawu Sumaila (APC, Kano), has condemned the recent attack on the father of Kano State governor, Dr.

Rabiu Musa kwankwaso, in a mosque during evening prayers.

Alhaji Musa Sale Kwankwaso who is the District Head of Madobi in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State, narrowly escaped death.

Tuesday night when four unknown gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles attacked and opened fire on the mosque where he was performing Ishai prayers, killing three persons and injuring 12 others.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, Kawu described the attempted kidnap on the elder Kwankwaso as callous and barbaric and highly condemnable especially that "they attacked an elder desecrating the sanctity of a place of worship.

" According to him, our culture and religion abhors every act of violence and encourages respect for elders but what is happening now completely negates what we stand for as a people and as such condemnable".

Kawu maintained that the attack has again brought to the fore our stance that no one is safe in Nigeria due to the insecurity bedevilling every section of the country.

"We have time without number said that the government at the centre has failed to leave up to its responsibilities of securing the lives of its citizens as the security and welfare of Nigerians should be the primary purpose of government.
