Kwankwso's father escapes death as gunmen attack Kano mosque

Father of Kaduna State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Alhaji Musa Saleh Kwankwaso on Tuesday night escaped death when unidentified gunmen attacked and opened fire on worshippers at a mosque in Kwankwaso town in Madobi Local Governmnt Council of the State.

The governor's father was said to be among the congregation at the time the gunmen struck.

It was gathered that it was a long gun battle between the gunmen and the police attached to the Mosque but at the end of it all, three persons were killed while 12 others sustained varying degrees f injuries. They are said to be receiving treatment at a near-by hospital.

It was learnt that at the time when the incident occurred, at about 8pm yesterday(Tuesday) in Madobi, the governor's father, Alhaji Musa Saleh Kwankwaso, who is also the District Head of Madobi was among the worshippers when the attack occurred, but escaped unhurt.

Confirming the incident, the Kano State Police Command said although the attack was repelled by the police on duty at the Mosque, three persons lost their lives, while about 12 others suffered varying degrees of injuries.

The Command's spokesman, Magaji Musa-Majia, ASP, in a press statement said all the injured persons had been rushed to a near-by hospital, where they are presently receiving treatment, adding that the motive of the attack was yet to be established.

He said the Command had launched an investigation into the incident with a view to get the perpetrators.

He solicited for the cooperation of the general public in offering useful information to the police to enable law enforcement agents apprehend the perpetrators. Punch
