Kaduna PDP plans to receive APC defectors

By The Citizen

Jolted by the gale of defection of its members to the All Progressives Congress, the Kaduna chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party said it will soon receive hundreds of APC members, who have indicated willingness to join the PDP.

A group, under the aegis of Kaduna PDP Stakeholders Forum, lashed out at the opposition party, noting that the PDP remained the strongest, most popular and stable political entity in Kaduna State and Nigeria.

The former North-West Zonal Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Baba Lawal-Aliyu, at a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday, accused the APC of exaggerating the number of those that defected from the PDP in the state.

He noted that while some members were going to other political parties, others were also willing to join the party(PDP), adding that soon, the leadership of the party in the state would receive a large number of other members of the APC in the state into the PDP.

He said those that defected from the party had their constitutional rights to do so which was allowed in democracy, noting that that was the beauty of democracy.'In a political dispensation, you know Nigeria is developing very fast and this is a constitutional right and you cannot stop somebody from jumping ship,' he said.

He added that the problem of the party in the state was that of succession, saying the problem started  since former governor of the state, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, left office.

The party leader, however, urged members to explore the internal mechanism of the party to resolve crisis among members rather than for members to wash their dirty linen in the public. Vanguard
