A Christmas day fire outbreak has destroyed six houses at the Nigerian Police Force, 'A' Division Barracks, Jos, Plateau State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the fire started at about 9.00 p.m. from the top floor of the two storey building.

'Only two out of the eight flats on the block survived the inferno after neighbours and men of the Nigeria Fire Service put out the fire,' one of the victims, a lady who declined to give her name, told NAN.

Mr Dominic Esin, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Police Command, who confirmed the incident, said the cause of the fire had not been determined.

He however said property worth millions of Naira were lost in the inferno, adding that no life was lost. NAN
