Chelsea transfer news: Deals for Falcao or Rooney on hold until the summer, says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho may have just disappointed Chelsea fans as the 50-year-old says no strikers will be bought until at least next summer.

The current trio of Demba Ba, Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres have failed to impress so far this season and the Blues have been linked with several top names as a result.

Among those are unsettled AS Monaco superstar Radamel Falcao and former attacking target Wayne Rooney of Manchester United.

However, Mourinho has scuppered those plans and says the current crop will see the west London club out until the end of the campaign.

'We trust they can help us to the end of the season,' the Portuguese boss was quoted by ITV.

'In the summer, the picture changes because it's a market with different perspective from the winter market.

'It's time for us to try to get the man that could be the ideal one for us. In this moment, we're not going to.'

Between Ba, Eto'o and Torres they have netted 15 goals in 2013/14 in all competitions - which to put into perspective is four less than Liverpool's Luis Suarez on the forward's own.

Although there have been glimpses of good form from all of them, many thought Mourinho really needed extra reinforcement to mount a serious challenge on the Premier League title.

Yet supporters at Stamford Bridge will have to wait at least another six months before they can see Falcao or Rooney strutting their stuff in west London.
