Respected Christian Cleric Kidnapped In Nigeria

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, December 24, (THEWILL) - A former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and ex Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Peter Jasper Akinola, has been kidnapped by gunmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. Akinola was reportedly abducted alongside his driver on Tuesday afternoon at the main entrance of the building housing his foundation, the Peter Akinola Foundation Center for Youth Industrial Training, located along the Abeokuta-Lagos highway. The police in the state confirmed his abduction to the media and urged members of the public to volunteer information that will help track his abductors and free the revered preacher. Kidnapping for a ransom is a popular crime in Nigeria, especially in South.
