Nigeria: Keshi halts Eagles Euro move

By The Rainbow

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has revealed he has been able to convince most of the home-based Eagles not to move abroad before the CHAN.

Keshi told the media on Wednesday that star players like Sunday Mba, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Benjamin Francis and Solomon Kwamba were certain of a European move in the winter transfer window but he stepped in to convince them to delay their moves after the competition. 'It is difficult to keep these players back home from going to ply their trades in Europe because they want to enhance their careers. We cannot stop them because our league is not very bouyant', Keshi said.

'I have begged them to shelve their going abroad till after the CHAN cup in South Africa in January and they have all agreed to stay and play for their country before making their next career move,' Keshi revealed.

Nigeria are drawn in Group A of the tournament alongside hosts South Africa, Mali and Mozambique.
