Enugu to partner ANA on creating awareness of literary works

The Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Okolo, has urged the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) to partner with the state ministry of Education for awareness for ANA's literary works.

Okolo made the call on Friday at an induction ceremony and Christmas party organised by the association for its members in Enugu.

The commissioner, who was represented by the Director of Higher Education, Mr Cosmos Ozioko, said the move would make ANA's works known and used in schools.

He said the ministry did not know the challenges of the association, saying that it was only when ANA partnered with the ministry that its problems would be known and solved.

He further advised the association to take its activities to all schools in the state to develop and bring up young writers.

The Chairman of the association, Mr Ndubuisi Eneh, promised that the new executive would move the association forward by organising programmes in the years ahead.

The programmes, he said, would include ANA Enugu book review, literary work competition among schools, promotion of culture, and the celebration of some authors who have background in Enugu, among others.

The immediate past Chairman of the association, Mrs Netty Ejike, said she would continue to work with the present executive to move the association forward.

She said that though ANA in the state was confronted with inadequate finance and awareness creation, the present executive would make the union grow positively.

Other members of the executive include Tochukwu Ipere as the Vice-Chairman, Sunday Ogbonna
