Surprise As Kwankwaso, Wammako Attend PDP Reconciliation Meeting In Abuja

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, December 09, (THEWILL) -  In what appeared to be a surprise appearance Sunday night in Abuja, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were at the Presidential Villa to attend the PDP reconciliation meeting convened  by President Goodluck Jonathan. The two governors, who came in the same car, arrived about an hour after Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, got to the venue of the meeting. Aliyu was seated close to the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) at the meeting when the two governors came in. The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, had arrived before them and proceeded to confer with the President inside his residence before joining them at the venue. Jonathan and Vice -President Namadi Sambo were to join the others around  9.50pm. Ten minutes later, other PDP governors who had earlier convened for the PDP Governors' Forum at the Akwa Ibom State Governors Lodge in Asokoro also arrived for the meeting. They included the PDP Governors' Forum Chairman, Godswill Akpabio, governors of Abia, Kebbi, Kogi, Katsina, Bauchi, Plateau, Enugu, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna and Taraba States. But Governor, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, who is also an aggrieved governor, was conspicuously absent. The meeting  came after President Jonathan on Saturday declared in Paris after the Security Summit that the defection of five PDP governors to the APC would not affect the fortune of the ruling party in future elections as he stated that three of the five governors were still sitting 'on the fence.' The five PDP governors who defected are Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers),  Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Aliyu Wamakko, Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) and Kwankwaso. Details of the meeting were not disclosed to the press but Wamakko said himself and Kwankwaso were at the meeting to formally inform President Jonathan of their defection to the APC.
