Establish A Brigade At Ngala And Banki

The Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zanna Umar Mustapha has called for the establishment of a military brigade at Ngaka and Banki areas along the border with Cameroun to checkmate the cross border insurgency that appears to be on the increase in the area.

Speaking when the Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Azubuike Ihejireka paid him a courtesy visit at his office on Wednesday, the Deputy Governor said,"we are calling on the military authorities to please set up Brigade formations of the Army at Ngala and Banki to checkmate the activities of the insurgents who are involved in cross border activities".

"I Am also calling for the development of road infrastructure along the border areas to transportation for both the people and military during operations", he said adding ,"the reintroduction of aerial patrol is equally desirable to monitor the insurgents".

Earlier while addressing officers of the 7 Division Nigerian Army at their headquarters, the Chief of Army staff said, "I am happy with the revolve of Nigerians to fight insurgency as anyone who wants to change any government can do so through his vote when the time for election comes.

"I want to assure you that the president is in contact with his counterparts and they are doing all they can yo address the issue of cross border insurgency", he said.

Lt. Gen Ihejireka is in Maiduguri to see for himself how well settled the newly created 7 Division Nigerian Army is and to hear of their success and challenges. He is being accompanied on the visit by Principal officers from the Army Headquarters.
