Jonathan reminded the people of the need to vote for PDP's candidate, Mr Tony Nwoye, whom he described as a vibrant young man with the zeal to serve.

“This election is special in the sense that it is holding on Nov. 16 when one of the greatest leaders of the country, former President Nnamdi Azikwe was born.

“It will be a very good birthday gift for Great Zik and will bring Anambra State forward if you vote Comrade Tony Nwoye and PDP.

“Anambra people must work hard to make sure that the next governor of this state is elected on the platform of PDP.

“Do not be distracted by the rumour that some people are recruiting youths from neighbouring states.

“We must ensure security during and after the election and ensure one-man, one-vote,'' the President said.

Earlier, The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Turkur, urged the people of the state to vote PDP for uncommon transformation through the passion in Nwoye to serve the people of the state.

Tukur urged the people of the state to vote PDP, adding that: “PDP is in a hurry to take over Anambra as one of the states being controlled by the PDP after Nov. 16''.

He assured the traders in Anambra of the readiness of the in-coming administration on the platform of PDP, to make the Onitsha River Port functional for further economic development.

“Do not continue to remain outside the fold; return back to your main umbrella and get your development.

“That is why we insisted on free and credible primary election to make sure that whoever emerges will be a man who will be acceptable by all.

“We must thank Mr. President for making it possible,'' the PDP chairman said.

The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio, said that Anambra had continued to be a PDP State right from 1999 till date.

According to Akpabio, PDP is set to capture the state.

In his speech, the PDP Governorship Candidate, Mr Tony Nwoye promised to revolutionise the state and provide adequate security of lives and property.

Nwoye also promised to conduct the local government election in the state within six months, if elected.

He said that through his Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), he would tackle youth unemployment.

“Mr. President, Anambra State is the highest state with no youth empowerment in the entire country and I am promising that if elected, I will tackle youth unemployment and ensure security of lives.

“Sir, I would revitalise agriculture by building agricultural settlements in all the zones and construct teaching hospitals in the three zones of the state,'' Nwoye said.

Members of the PDP Board of Trustees – Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Arthur Eze as well as Sen. Margery Okadigbo urged the people of the state to vote for Nwoye for total transformation
