Reaction to Emeka Umeagbalasi's published in The Nigerian Voice

By Okechukwu Nwanguma

Emeka Umeagbalasi, there you go again, mentioning my name in another of your frequent windy, incoherent and boring write-ups. This time, you have again come up with your lies and smear campaign against my person. In your latest 'public statement' entitled 'Anambra Governorship Poll & APC's Asymmetric Political Guerrilla Warfare: (Public Information, Onitsha Nigeria, 7th of November, 2013)-:, you wrote, inter alia:

'Just the other day, we read on the online media a statement credited to the APC, Anambra State chapter with a caption: “Peter Obi Uses Intersociety Again To Cover Uke Adoration Stampede”. Before then, the same APC chapter had issued a statement with a title: “How Peter Obi Procured Intersociety To Cover Obiano's Double Registration”. Days later, one of our trusted friends, Mr. Okechukwu Nwanguma, acting either within his self calculations or external inducement, announced to the world reading public his artistry in character assassination with our Board Chairman and Organization as his sole target. In all these, we acted maturely by concentrating on “putting the records straight” and refusing to be provoked or respond in a like manner including opening up on any of our attackers...'

Now, you know that you are being dishonest when you pretend that you do not know why I wrote what I wrote about you- which was actually my very first open reply to your numerous writings - in our many years of relationship.

When you say '...one of our trusted friends, Mr. Okechukwu Nwanguma, acting either within his self calculations or external inducement...' you are not being sincere enough to tell your readers that you were the first to accuse me in your revisionist and malignant claim, inter alia, that 'Dr. Ngige procured the then Southeast director of the CLO to undermine Comrade Umeagbalasi's activities and to convince the CLO's national leadership, vide a crooked report, to dismiss him.'

Now, before and after this, you had made and repeated the same false claim in different versions in your different public statements. When my attention was drawn to them, I was perplexed and inboxed you a facebook message seeking clarification... You did not reply and I sent you an email also asking why you were making such false and damaging comments about me. Again, you did not reply. This prompted me to complain to Barrister Durueke who was the Vice President of CLO at the time the incident you were referring to and attempting to distort the facts happened.

Durueke asked me to give him sometime to call you and revert to me. While I was waiting for Durueke to reach you, draw your attention to your distortion of facts, and revert to me, you continued in your defamatory publications. I had no option than to openly reply you.

Now, you know that this is the only reason I wrote my Open Letter to you to clear my name and set the record straight.

I have already shown that the findings and report of the CLO national delegation to Anambra to resolve the problem you created in 2006 with your reckless and partisan statements agreed perfectly with my 'crooked report'. You also apologised at the meeting of the national delegation with Chairmen of State chapters-as records show. At the same meeting, all of you- the state chapter chairmen were handed guidelines on how to issue public statements in the name of CLO.

Now, you can ahead and continue playing your APGA politics using your new platform, Intersociety, and enjoy all the benefits. But please- and I am warning you for the last time: do no longer mention my name in any of your future writings.
