Nigeria’s powerlifting contigent departs for Norway

Six Power lifters and an official, representing Nigeria at the International powerlifting World Championship departed for Stavanger, Norway on Sunday aboard Air France.

The competition which commenced todaywould end on Nov. 10.

Peter Olowu, the Secretary of the Nigeria professional Power lifting Association (NPPA) told newsmen before the team departure that the athletes would make the country proud.

Olowu said that the athletes had prepared adequately to improve their performance in the competition.

“The athletes are in top spirit for the championships, they have prepared well to have a good outing in,'' he said

Also, Sunday Erepadei, one of the powerlifters gave an assurance that the country would perform well in the world championships.

He said that the their preparations for the competition would boost their ability to compete with other countries.

“We are ready for this championships and our preparation will help us to perform well,'' he said.
