Adeyeye accuses Fayemi of squandering Ekiti funds on 2nd term ambition

By Prince Adedayo Adeyeye

Afenifere Chieftain and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has accused the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of squandering the State funds on his second term ambition, saying; “Ekiti people will make Fayemi to account for every kobo of their funds when the time comes.”

The governorship aspirant, who alleged that over N50 million is being spent to produce a movie as part of the governor's second term bid, added that; “No amount of cooked up stories produced as home videos can make Fayemi rule Ekiti State beyond October 16, 2014.”

Speaking through the Director General of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Hon. Bisi Kolawole, the PDP governorship hopeful alleged that more than N1 billion state funds must have been wasted on the governor's second term ambition.

He said; “In the last four months, what we have witnessed in Ekiti State are campaign rallies in which artistes are brought from Lagos and Ibadan and are paid millions of naira to perform, use of council funds to buy buses in the name of the governor's wife and distributing same to market women, cash to secure endorsements from associations and groups, littering of the State with billboards advertising fake projects, among other frivolities.

“Two weeks ago, only N2 million was released to each of the 16 Local Councils in the State as their share of the September allocation and two days after the N2 million was released, the councils were forced to release the money for the mega rally held in Ado-Ekiti on October 16, 2013.

“It would have even been better if Ekiti based artistes had been engaged to perform in the rallies and are paid part of the millions of naira they have paid to Lagos and Ibadan based artistes. By so doing, part of the money being wasted on Fayemi's second term bid would have circulated within Ekiti State.

“Now, it appears the governor and his men have gone from the ridiculous to the bizarre level as what is now happening in Ekiti State is the shooting of a movie to promote his second term bid.

"How can a governor be using the state resources to shoot a movie that is of no benefit to the people? Or is this movie on which over N50 million is being spent going to put food on the table of Ekiti people when it is released?

"Funny enough, this same Fayemi, who is lavishing Ekiti State money on his second term ambition, claimed that the State had no money to fund more than one university and he, on the basis of that closed down universities that were already operating.

"Too bad for the governor however, unlike the 2011 general election when votes were bought for as much as N3, 000 per vote, this time around, no amount money will sway Ekiti people into voting for Fayemi and his party in 2014, and the earlier the governor is made to realise this and stop wasting the State resources on frivolities, the better.”
