EID-EL-KABIR: GOV. OKOROCHA CONGRATULATES MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN IMO

CALLS SOBER REFLECTION AND PRAYERS FOR PEACE AND UNITY OF THE COUNTRY

Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha OON earlier today at Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Chambers, Imo Government House, Owerri, admonished Imo Muslim Community to work and pray for peace and unity of the country.

Speaking through his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere MFR who received the members of The Muslim Council of Imo State of Nigeria congratulated the Muslims Community while calling on them to reflect on the challenges Nigeria is going through at the moment especially in the areas of Security, Economy and Politics. 'Going by our present experiences in our dear country, it calls for sober reflection.

He called for all hands to be on deck to create Nigeria everyone can be proud of. He further challenged Muslims to work harmoniously with their brothers of different faith for a more united, peaceful and progressive Nigeria.

While narrating the affinity between Christian and Muslim Faith especially the experience of Abraham, his supposed sacrifice of his son to God as a test to his faith and God's providence for Ram for a befitting sacrifice unto him, he called on Nigerians to treat one another as one irrespective of their ethnic divide, which he said lies the strength of Nigeria as a country.

Governor Okorocha also called for the remember acne of those whose lives where cut short for various painful reasons. Let us not forget our brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate prize in various challenges facing the Nation. May we pray for the repose of their souls, he enthused.

Meanwhile, the Imo Muslim Community took the opportunity during their visit commend Governor Okorocha for his exemplary leadership, which has created inter-religious harmony in the State despite security challenges facing the country.

In his speech, the Secretary General of the Muslim body, Jibril Nwangwasim described Islam as a religion of peace as he called on all Muslims to observe this important injunction of Peace from Prophet Mohammed in practice and not in breach , while calling on other States to follow Imo paradigm, a paradigm of peaceful and inter-religious co-existence. Alhaji Jibril submits that the situation in Imo State is A function of Governor Okorocha's broadmindedness.

The group further thanked Governor Okorocha for donation of a brand new Hummer Toyota Bus, cash gifts and offsetting of their debt at the National Hajj Commission, which had been a thing of worry and embarrassment to them.

The group also prayed Governor Okorocha to help provide an Eid-Ground for their daily prayers as they prayed for abundance blessings upon him by Allah.
