Foreign Minister Westerwelle on Egypt – preventing further bloodshed

BERLIN, Germany, October 7, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement today (5 October):

We are very concerned that once again violent clashes with deadly consequences have broken out in Cairo and other towns in Egypt.

I call on all those in positions of responsibility in Egypt not to add fuel to the flames and to now do everything possible to prevent another bloody escalation of violence on the streets of Egypt.

The process of restoring democratic and constitutional order must not be called into question, all sections of society must have the chance to participate in the political process.
