No ban on political rallies, in Ekiti State but… - Police
Ado Ekiti - Ekiti State Police Command, weekend, said it had not banned political rallies by politicians, saying, however, it frowned at procession that contradicted provision of Electoral Act 2011, as amended which 'stipulates 90 days to an election for holding of campaign rallies.'
Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the Command's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, assured that the command would not associate with any political party or give undue advantage to any aspirant ahead of 2014 governorship election in the state.
According to him: 'We have not banned political rallies in Ekiti; what we are defending is strict compliance with the provision of Section 99 of the Electoral Act.
