Former minister of justice and attorney general of the federation, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN) says his relationship with Acting President Goodluck Jonathan remains very cordial. Aondoakaa said he left the country immediately after his recent redeployment by Jonathan because he was on a 30-day vacation.

Controversy has trailed Aondoakaa's exit from the country shortly after he was redeployed to the ministry of special duties as soon as Jonathan assumed office as acting president.

There were speculations that the former AGF had travelled to Brazil, Senegal, or Saudi Arabia where President Umaru Yar'Adua was hospitalised for three months. The minister who quietly came into Makurdi last weekend debunked rumors that he went on exile but refused to disclose where he travelled to spend his leave.

Aondoakaa told newsmen that he was on a 30-day vacation to enable him attend to some urgent personal issues, adding that the leave was duly approved by the acting president.

Speaking through his Special Assistant, Terna Yaji, Aondoakaa produced a letter dated February 10, 2010 which stated that he was to proceed on vacation to attend to urgent personal issues.

The special duties minister said until his vacation was over, he could not attend to any official matter. He, however, pledged his loyalty to Jonathan and restated his commitment to the unity of the nation, just as he also urged Nigerians to pray for the peace and progress of the country.
