WNEPC 2013: Sambo set to deliver state of power address

As Nigeria transits from a government controlled electricity power sector to a private sector driven, the Vice President, Arc. Namadi Sambo (GCON) is set to deliver the State of Electricity Power Address at the WorldStage National Electricity Power Conference (WNEPC) 2013 in Lagos on September 24.

The conference with the theme: 'Moving Nigeria's Electricity Power Sector Forward', according to the organisers, is coming at the time when government is handing over the privatized PHCN assets to the successful bidders in a successful exercise that fetched government over $2 billion.

Also billed to address the conference are; Professor Chinedu O. Nebo, Honourable Minister of Power who will speak on 'Delivering Government Promises On Power', the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, will speak on 'Power Sector Liberalisation And Regulatory Challenges' and  Engr. Otis Anyaeji, Chairman Institute of Appraisers &Cost Engineers and Chairman, Electric Power Foundation will deliver a paper on 'Achieving Presidential Action Committee On Power Mandate: Contractors Input'.

There will also be roundtable discussions on Electricity Generation and Gas Supply Post Privatization; Transmission and Distribution Challenges; Effective Regulation of Power Sector; and Alternative Energy Sources/Energy Conservation.

Mr Segun Adeleye, President/CEO, WorldStage said the conference is coming at a unique time when private investors are taking over the privatized PHCN assets.

'It will be a great opportunity for the new investors in power to address the consumers on what to expect in the short and medium terms,' he said.
