A major crack has occurred in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State as the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, dissociated itself from the planned protest in Abuja today against the party's guidelines for the state harmonisation committee of the party.

The defunct CPC in the state while briefing newsmen at the party secretariat, Abeokuta, yesterday, said it was satisfied with the recommended guidelines on the harmonisation of the state APC committee, urging the faction to desist from such move.

State chairman of the defunct CPC, Mr. Oluwole Smith, alleged that a faction in the new party had been commissioned by some politicians to protest harmonisation of the APC committee.

According to Smith, 'as the authentic CPC caucus in APC Ogun State, we want to say without mincing words that, this group in APC has no hand in the 'rally' being planned by some people from Ogun State, in Abuja, against the recommended guidelines by the national interim executive towards harmonisation of legacy parties into APC committee at the state level.

'With this statement, we hereby wash our hands off the unholy and uncalled-for-rally which we regard as unprogressive and retrogressive in its entirety.

'We view this planned protest as callous, unwarranted and undemocratic.

'For too long we have been kicked around by politicians who think the only way they can oil their wheels of self- aggrandisement is to keep us back when progress is being made.'
