San Francisco March 01, (THEWILL) – A copy of the last medical report written by President Umaru Yar'Adua's chief physician has been obtained by a Nigerian newspaper, The Nation. The report, which was addressed to the Acting President, was dated February 19, 2010 and signed by Dr. Salisu Banye.

It reads: "This is to inform His Excellency that the President has been receiving treatment for his pericarditis with a remarkable improvement since our arrival in Jeddah on 23rd November, 2009.

"He has however been confirmed by a team of medical specialists to have developed episodes of chest infections that necessitated his isolation and intensive therapy.

"He is now recuperating and will be discharged from the hospital as soon as advised by the medical team. He has specifically instructed me to convey his gratitude and best wishes to you and the entire people of Nigeria."

The paper did not say how it obtained the report and THEWILL has not been able to independently verify its authenticity.

In a related development, President Yar'Adua's aged mother is expected to see the very sick President this Tuesday, according to a security source in government.

Hajiya Dada Yar'Adua who has been making frantic efforts to see Umaru Yar'Adua since his departure from Nigeria may have been transported to Abuja according to the source.

Yar'Adua's wife, Turai has refused to allow anyone see the ailing President including Nigerian Acting President.

The source also said that Hajiya Turai may be compelled to allow Top government officials see Yar'Adua this week as Governors and cabinet Ministers have stepped up pressure on the Director of the SSS and the NSA to urge Turai to allow access to her husband.

President Yar'Adua has not been seen in public since November 23, 2009. The chance of Yar'Adua returning as President is very slim, the source added.
